Space Oddity

I've been working on another post for a couple of days but it's missing one key piece, so you'll just have to wait. But in the meantime, since I realized I haven't been very active on here recently (sorry!) here's something pretty cool.

Also, in an effort to make this blog better, I'm going to finally treat this the way a real blog should be treated. I'm going to plan posts, make lists of ideas for future posts, DIY projects (I already have one up my sleeve that I need to finish up!), and the like. I hope it's the kick I need to get this thing moving again. 

Also, I don't know if you've been paying attention but there was a mechanism to comment on my blog with facebook for a couple of days. It really wasn't what I wanted for several different reasons so I removed it. It has nothing to do with the comments that were left there, and I encourage you to comment through the blog comment system. And before you say it's too difficult to log in... you don't have to! Just type in your name, or comment anonymously if that's what you'd like. This is a public forum, a conversation, and it needs your participation to make it better. I appreciate you, my readers, and will continue to search for better ways to bring my blog to you and to bring you into my blog. ;)

Just please don't leave blog comments on my facebook wall. Whew.

gobsmacked

So here I am, just minding my own business, reading my feeds (ok, if we're being honest here I wasn't reading, I was skimming. I still subscribe to a bunch of wedding blogs and since I don't really need them anymore I have been slowly weeding them out, and those that are still on the list I just scan through to see if something catches my eye)... And something catches my eye. The wedding toppers I knit for our wedding. And for a brief second I think wow those look a lot like mine. And my eyes look over to the right a bit and.... it's me. My face. Staring back at me. On one of those wedding blogs that I looked to for inspiration for so long.

My little blog is one year old today, can you believe it? 345 posts (so I didn't quite make my once a day goal, but that is pretty darned close). Here's to another year of pretty things, happiness, and inspiration. 

It's also a good time, I think, to reflect on what the blog has been through in the past year. What have you enjoyed the most? What do you think I should just leave out? And what would you like to see more of? I want to hear from you!

I read her blog regularly and think it's just adorable. And recently I decided to enter a giveaway on her blog, tempted by cute cupcake kits over at Layer Cake Shop, but also knowing that I never win these things. I mean, really, what are the odds?

But I won! I won a $30 gift certificate which I promptly spent on some of these goodies!

That last one I am super excited about. Those are 11 different sizes of circular cookie cutters, which come nested in their own little tin! Can you just say after my own heart. Oh yes, I can think of a million uses for those beauties. And no, I couldn't stick to just spending the $30, in case you were wondering. Once I started shopping, I just couldn't stop! You asked for it!

Well, I did it. I finally went and did it. I added a blogroll to my page! It was kind of a lengthy process, and I'm still not happy with the results, but I present it to you as a work in progress so that you can take advantage of my resources and find yourself something beautiful every day. (What, my blog isn't good enough for you?) Be warned though, you never know what you might find over there until I can get it all organized and categorized. There's a little bit of crafts, a touch of cooking, a couple knitting, and a hefty helping of wedding blogs to sort through. Enjoy!

And a bit more of what's on my mind these days. Some lovely examples of Save the Dates. Because everybody knows I love a good paper product.

Oh! Also. I've been thinking about starting another blog where I can put all of my wedding ideas and inspiration (without giving away any top secret information of course) without clogging up this blog with that stuff. What do you think? Anyone interested?

Rockstar diaries is written by a simply adorable and charming couple with great style and a dog that makes my heart melt. Need proof? I got it.

And they live in DC so when I get a little jealous of their life I realize that I can do all of that stuff because it's RIGHT THERE and I just have to get up off my lazy butt and go do it. But mostly I don't. I just dream.
